PROJECT DETAILS:

This project was done as part of my “Digital Media Design” course in my sophomore year of college. A project where we had to become a video producer, and by shooting different shots, create a “How to” video to show how something should be done. Nonetheless, I took this project more abstract, instead of actually showcasing a typical “How-To” video,  I tried to show the place where I live (San Francisco) and make it so that it is like a how-to explore San Francisco, that I shoot the places in the city that looks interesting or indicates the identity of San Francisco in a way.

Some of the shots of the movie that were taken by a Canon e60 camera

I  tried to capture as much as I could and show the city while maintaining the “film” aesthetic. All the editing was later done using Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve

The design consideration that I had to make the scenes look more like a “film” was to add film grain throughout the entire scene, more “yellowish” color grading, a more horizontal aspect ratio (2.35 : 1), and video effects such as Bloom and Diffusion. All of these combine the yellow subtitle that is the cherry on top of the film aesthetic that I was looking for.
