- Glitch Art
- Artificial Intelligence
- Experimental Design
PROJECT DETAILS:
As part of the “Digital Media Design” course in the sophomore year of college, students were told to choose a random picture, and by using Artificial intelligence to make alterations to the image. Then take the image into software that was not designed for photo manipulation, and make alterations to the photo in that software.
What we were looking for in this project was to understand and look at glitches, and technical malfunction in a more design way, and to see how glitches can create new visual effects that might be used in a project.
As part of this project, I used “Audacity” which is a digital audio workstation just like “FL Studio”. Used software that was not designed to manipulate images, and made interesting outcomes of the image once the image was exported in.RAW format.
The image sometimes had various reactions to the changes made in the software(bottom left), however, most of the exports were broken and the file would not even open. On the other hand, some other changes would slightly alter the image, such as increasing or decreasing the brightness of the image (bottom right).
+ Note: the image on the top, is not supposed to display like this. On my device, the image is not bright red at all, in fact, it is to some extent colorless! it is interesting to see that once the image was uploaded to the servers on the web, the glitch even went further and caused the image to change its color to this bright red color.
